Elektra - end of life
New 2-in-1 High-Integration PC/104 CPU with Ethernet and Data Acquisition
|

|
 |
Description |
The new ELEKTRA CPU from Diamond Systems provides a rugged, 2-in-1 solution, combining CPU and data acquisition into a single PC/104 board for space-limited embedded applications. Low-power operation, extended temperature capability, soldered-on memory, and compatibility with solid state flashdisk storage make Elektra a perfect choice for demanding harsh-environment situations, such as transportation, marine, aerospace, military, or outdoor applications.
Elektra uses the ST Micro VEGA Pentium-II class processor running at 200MHz. It includes onboard 128MB memory, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, and a professional-quality analog and digital I/O circuit with autocalibration. It runs Linux, DOS, QNX, and Windows CE. Elektra operates over the -40 to +85șC temperature range without a fan.
Two configurations are available: Model ELK200-EA-XT includes CPU + data acquisition, while model ELK200-E-XT is the lower-cost CPU-only version. Both versions include 4 RS-232 ports, 2 USB 1.1 ports with USB floppy support, 10/100Mbps Ethernet, PS/2 keyboard/mouse, parallel and IDE ports, programmable watchdog timer, and on-board backup battery for real-time clock and BIOS settings.
ELK200-EA-XT's built-in data acquisition circuit provides high-accuracy, stable A/D performance with 16-bit resolution and programmable input ranges. A 512-sample FIFO and on-board programmable timer enable error-free 100KHz A/D sampling rate in any operating system. It includes 4 12-bit D/A channels, 24 programmable digital I/O lines, and two programmable counter/timers. All data acquisition features are fully supported by our Universal Driver software to simplify application development.

Data Acquisition Circuit |
The optional data acquisition circuit on Elektra is equivalent to a full-featured analog I/O expansion board, with analog I/O, digital I/O, and counter/timer functions.
The 16 analog inputs have 16-bit resolution, programmable gain of 1, 2, 4, and 8, and maximum input range of +/-10V in bipolar mode or 0-10V in unipolar mode. Both single-ended (2-wire) and differential (3-wire) inputs may be accommodated. Using the built-in FIFO and interrupts, the board can achieve sample rates of up to 100KHz in both single-channel and scan modes.
The board also has 4 12-bit analog output channels. The output range is jumper-selected between 0-10V or +/-10V. On power-up, the outputs may be configured to clear to mid-scale or zero-scale, so that they always power up to 0V for safety.
Elektra also has 24 digital I/O lines organized as 3 8-bit ports. The direction of each port is programmable. When in output mode, each port has a high-drive buffer capable of supplying up to -10/+30mA of output current per pin.
Elektra has two counter/timers for timing operations. The first counter is 24 bits wide and is generally used to control A/D sampling rate. Driven by a user-programmable 10MHz or 1MHz on-board clock, it can provide output pulses anywhere from 10MHz down to 0.06Hz. The second counter/timer is 16 bits wide and can be driven by either 10MHz or 100KHz on-board clocks or a user-supplied input signal. It can be used for timing, counting/totalizing, or programmable interrupt generator functions.
Solid State Flashdisk
Elektra works with our solid state IDE flashdisk modules. These modules provide ultra-rugged, extended-temperature capable, and fully IDE-compatible file storage in sizes ranging from 32MB to 256MB. Flashdisks mount onto the IDE connector and are held in place with a spacer and two screws for immunity to shock and vibration.
Pandora Cable-Free Enclosure System
|
Elektra fits inside our Pandora enclosure system to provide a compact, rugged, wall- or chassis-mountable industrial CPU. Pandora utilizes a unique cable-free I/O panel board to provide a rugged and customizable packaged embedded computing solution.
Multiple and custom case sizes are available, starting from a thin 1.7" for CPU + panel board all the way up to 10 inches length for housing multiple boards and custom hardware.
