Low-Cost Low-Power ZFx86 PC/104 CPU

Description |
Our new Prometheus LC goes above and beyond the competition to provide an
excellent solution for low-cost low-power-consumption applications. Its
ZFx86 processor chip delivers 486-100MHz capability, enough for DOS, Linux,
and QNX applications. The low 2-watt total power consumption provides
extended life in battery-powered applications along with extra-low heat
dissipation. System memory includes a generous 16MB RAM and 1MB Flash. A
backup battery is included for the on-board real-time clock. The board
operates over the extended temperature range of -40 to +85ºC.
The Prometheus LC may be used with our Pandora enclosure system, including a cable-free panel I/O board that provides
industry-standard connectors for all I/O while minimizing assembly time and
maximizing ruggedness.

Small on Price, Big on I/O |
The extensive I/O includes 4 RS-232 ports (2 with 128-byte FIFOs) featuring
up to 115.2kbaud data rates. The BIOS provides console redirection via COM1
or COM2, so you don't need a video board to communicate with the CPU. Two
USB1.1 ports, 2 PS/2 ports, IrDA capability, and an IEEE1284 LPT port are
also included. Both floppy and IDE drives are supported. The IDE port may
be used with a notebook hard drive or a solid-state flashdisk module that mounts directly on the board. A watchdog timer with
programmable time delay provides the capability to reset the system in the
case of application failure. Both hardware and software retriggering are
supported.

Disk-On-Board Flash File Storage Reduces Cost |
Prometheus includes our exclusive cost-saving disk-on-board technology.
This custom BIOS feature lets you format the on-board flash memory as a
bootable disk drive with approximately 700KB capacity. You can store DOS,
application programs, and data files directly in the flash, eliminating the
need for any external drives or flashdisk modules. Find out more about

Our Pandora enclosure along with its Panel I/O
board provide a rugged and economical way to assemble Prometheus LC into a
self-contained, packaged unit without the need for any cables. Pandora is
available in 5 sizes, from 1.7" to 10" length.

IDE Flashdisk modules are available in sizes from 32MB up to 4GB.
These compact solid-state storage devices mount directly on the board and
are fully IDE-compatible, with no configuration or drivers required. A
miniature adapter board ACC-IDEEXT is also available to enable you to
connect the flashdisk module to a desktop PC for file transfers.

For users who need to use a notebook hard drive with their PC/104 system,
we offer the ACC-HDDMOUNT accessory board. This is a PC/104-size board that
can be used to mount the hard drive neatly and conveniently right onto the
stack.
