Description

Quantum is a family of PCI/104-Express SBCs that utilize Qseven COM CPU modules to provide a range of processor options, the first member of which is based on the 1GHz AMD Fusion G-T40E CPU.

Available I/O features include on-board data acquisition with 4 channels of 12-bit analog input, 10 digital I/O lines, 4 pulse width modulators, and 2 programmable counter/timers. Standard PC I/O includes USB 2.0, RS-232/422/485, Gigabit Ethernet, SATA, and digital I/O. Quantum also features a 6-32V wide voltage power input.

Quantum SBCs support I/O expansion with PCI-104, PCIe/104, and PCI/104-Express I/O modules. The new low cost PCIe connector supports both PCIe/104 Type 1 and Type 2 modules and provides compatibility with existing PCIe/104 I/O modules while reducing cost and increasing the PCB area available for other I/O features.

The Quantum SBC was designed with rugged applications in mind. From an operating temperature of -20C to +71C, the on-board DDR3 SDRAM, an integrated heat spreader thermal solution, and its high tolerance for shock and vibration, Quantum SBCs thrive in harsh environments.

Quantum utilizes conduction cooling for improved ruggedness and reliability through the use of a heatspreader mounted on its bottom side, resulting in optimal thermal management and increased space for I/O functions and connectors. The four mounting holes on the bottom of the conduction cooled heatspreader are #6-32 threaded holes on 2.8" centers. The bottom-side heat spreader mounts directly to the Quantum baseboard, relieving stress on the Qseven module and enhancing ruggedness.

Software Support

Quantum SBCs run Linux, Windows Embedded Standard 7, and Windows XP. Linux and Windows Embedded 7 Software Development Kits are available with bootable images and drivers to get you started on your design project right out of the box.

Quantum Development Kits

Complete Development Kits with a bootable operating system are available with all the components you need to get started on your embedded design project. The kit contains a Quantum SBC, mSATA flashdisk with your choice of Windows Embedded 7 or Linux pre-loaded, cable kit, AC adapter, and software CD.

Linux (SDK-QUAxxx-LNX) and Windows Embedded Standard 7 (SDK-QUAxxx-WE7) software development kits are also available. These kits contain a flashdisk with a bootable OS image and a CD with a backup copy of the image plus software development tools.
