Diamond combines off-the-shelf proven embedded processor designs with your custom I/O on the same board to provide a single-board perfect fit solution that saves you significant development cost and time while reducing the size and cost of your final system.

Choose from a range of low-cost to mid-performance processors with onboard or socketed RAM as the starting point for your design. Use the dedicated I/O region to incorporate your own I/O circuitry onto the board, or Diamond can design it for you, drawing from our wide base of already-proven I/O technologies used on our extensive family of I/O boards. This technique greatly reduces the risk of a custom development project as well as the development time and cost.

Intelligent Lighting Automation Controller

SBC with onboard Ethernet switch
A customer in the building automation industry needed a solution for daisy-chaining low-power embedded computers throughout large office buildings to provide intelligent, efficient lighting control. Diamond replaced the data acquisition circuit on our Helios PC/104 SBC with a 2-port PCI Ethernet switch plus a wide-range input power supply. The resulting single-board solution enabled the customer to fit all their electronics into a compact, industry-standard enclosure, while also reducing assembly time for their high-volume application.



Medical Laboratory Automation

SBC with audio
A customer in the medical instrumentation market needed a low-cost embedded computer with on-board audio to provide feedback to the operator during lab procedures. Again Diamond used our Helios SBC as the starting point, this time replacing the data acquisition circuit with a USB-based audio recording and playback circuit. An off-the-shelf demo board enabled the customer to evaluate the choice of audio chip prior to approving its use in the final design, greatly reducing project risk. At the same time the audio driver software was already integrated into the standard Windows distribution, simplifying the customer's software development and integration efforts. Working prototypes were delivered in only 7 weeks from specification signoff, helping the customer meet their strict schedule for FDA approval and market introduction.
